From a Childhood Dream to a Legacy

The heart of our collection is found in the workshop of our lead artisan partner, Lalo. Long before he was a professional craftsman, Lalo was a child playing with discarded leather scraps, making bracelets and small tokens for his friends. It was a hobby born of pure curiosity and a natural eye for detail.

Years later, while working a standard job, Lalo received news that would change everything: he was going to be a father to twins. Facing this sudden, great responsibility, he knew he needed to build a future for his family. He returned to that childhood dream, turning his passion into a livelihood.

What began with handmade shoes has evolved into a range of world-class leather goods and unique stone jewelry. Because these pieces are made "the slow way"—day by day, with obsessive attention to every stitch—each item is a singular event. There may never be another one quite like the one you hold in your hand.

Our business, Esperanza Viva, was born from a desire to do more than just share beautiful things. We saw a profound need in Mexican communities and wanted to find a way to address it that was self-sustaining. We believe that world-class talent should lead to world-class opportunity.
